Hello Everyone,

Just bought my 1st Merc, E220 D SE Premium 9g. Love it so far. Just had it remapped stage 1, now getting 221 bhp and 4700 Torque from 194 and 4000 respectively. I've changed the front grill to an amg, and its locking good. Not looking to add anything else apart from maybe a rear spoiler - the question is now my wheels and rims to finish off the car. I want to upgrade the brake discs as the same time. my questions is this...

my current wheels are 225 / 55 / 17 R - ride is comfortable and I want to keep the comfort level, I'm not 18 anymore and not racing my friends in their s200's, mr2's and Celica's

If I upgrade to 18' rims do I I go with 225 / 50 / 18 or can I go to 225 / 55 / 18 ? I'm worried about the clearance between the rubber and the arches.
also if I go for 245 / 55 / 18 will that work with wider tires?

Sorry if im not making any sense, 1st time on here and a total noob on the forums scene.

Thanks for your help in advance all.

Naz

Have a read through the 'stickies' at the top of the wheels, tyres section; you'll find some good info there 👍
And welcome BTW!

Sizes of suitable wheels and tyre combos are found on the fuel flap.

Seems 245/40/18 is tyre of choice.

But it depends on the model etc . Heres mine for an E 350. I have 235 40 18 fitted , square ⬛.

If you fit 18s it will depend on the rim width as to what size tyre you fit. The guide above is very useful. The wrong size tyres risk speedo inaccuracy and possible body fowling.
