US spec COMAND W204???

Hi,

Can anyone give me pro's and con's of fitting a US spec COMAND system, with full Euro software.

I understand it functions exactly the same as Euro spec COMAND, except it only has one tuner rather than 2, and the radio list you get on euro spec is not there on US.

I want to upgrade to COMAND, and have various options, but a supplier has reccomended I fit a brand new US spec 6 disc unit, as it is significantly cheaper than the Euro version. Other option include a Euro single disc, but used (apparently taken from cars being sent to Japan). Euro 6 disc is silly money, and I don't really want 6 disc, as I will download mp3 onto internal hard drive.

Your thoughts please.

You can pick up the single dvd units with display on ebay from UK sellers for less than £650. Buying from US you will pay vat and customs so the saving cant be that much. You will have to pay to have UK maps put on the unit and the unit wont accept them without having it put on STAR and disabling the maps etc. Will TMC work?

Thanks for the reply, the US spec COMAND being offered is already here in the UK. In fact it has never been to the US, it is just that US spec is much cheaper than a Euro spec.

Not really keen on buying an ebay unit, don't know whether it is stolen, damaged, etc. plus don't seem to come with the vents that I presume you need as they house the open/close buttons.
