Right here goes, 2014 CLA with Comand 20.
Had a 4GB USB in the centre console slot and thought ID upgrade and refresh my playlist. I read that it can handle a 32Gb stick formatted to FAT32.
So off I go and convert 80 of my finest CD's to MP3 - took hours and hours and hours. Then found an App which would search for and attach album work to each track.
SO when done I checked the USB and there was 80 folders, and in each folder a list of tracks and each had album artwork. great I thought :)
That feeling of euphoria was gone as soon as I plugged the USB into the slot and saw that perhaps only about 20 of the albums showed and most of those had lost the artwork.
USB back into laptop and bang 80 folders, each track with artwork.
Can someone save me from going insane and point out the error of my ways ?

Oh I must add the entire list was just under 8GB space on the 32Gb stick - what gives ??

Not sure you will get this resolved.

I have 2 8gb USB sticks and a 25gb card in my car downloaded from iTunes and all play perfectly but a good bit of the artwork does not display and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.

Mine displays a bit more than yours though at a guess I would say 60 to 70% does display.
