Used AMG GT-S Available

I love the GT but it's out of my price bracket at the moment. It seems to be in a market on its own, the F-Type R is cheaper, the R8 is now V10 only and a bit more expensive. It's a pity they don't do a V6, the engine out the new C43 would be nice, at mid £60k it would be a real alternative to the F-Type V6S. Maybe as rumoured Audi make a V6 R8, MB will have a rethink, alternatively I'll just have to wait until the price drops a fair bit more.

Why would they have a rethink? If anything, they are going to be bringing out faster and faster versions. If you want a V6 with less power, buy an SL400. It's not what the GT is about.

I did just that after looking at all sorts including AMG's, Porsches, Aston Martins and Bentley's.

I found them all too much (money and power) for a car that was 100% going to be used on the road. The 400 is just the sweet spot and it's getting close to 30mpg now. Plus the roof comes off on sunny days. Even the SL500 was too powerful (producing the same performance as the previous model SL63).

AMG GTs are becoming more numerous .. every dealer seems to have one in the showroom

give it time, they will get cheaper

Spot on.

Supplying Merc dealer recently offered £95k for a highly specced S with 1500 miles !!

Mclaren dealer offered us more than that.

Stunning car.

Lovely motor but in silver makes it soooo boring! I saw one in Singapore back over the F1 in September on display in dark grey and it looks so much nicer!

Have one of these on loan while the missus' ML63 is having some warranty issues resolved, goes back tomorrow. Lovely motor, if somewhat skittish on the front end when hitting cats-eyes at 120+ which is rather unnerving. I get on well with the service manager at my local MB/AMG dealership and he has told me every GT/GTs they have sold has had serious issues, predominantly gearbox. A number of brand new cars have required new gearboxes.

that's very worrying .. not read anything in the forums though

Hi,
Out of interest, what are the warranty issues on the ML63?
We have a few problems with ours - firstly 360 camera randomly stops working when you engage reverse (no detectable pattern - totally random).
Second problem is terrible (bordering on dangerous!) throttle lag when you coast to a near stop at a junction or speed bump - then reapply throttle to accelerate away again. Much more noticeable in Sport mode.
Cheers
Steve

I ordered the car on behalf of our mutual friend as dealers at the time claimed best way to get one ASAP was to be an existing customer and that MBUK had given instructions to weed out speculators by prioritising known prospects. We ended up getting first one from the dealer and a tiny discount but subsequently found out that other dealers were less selective in their criteria !

In like it more than he does I think but he not really gelling with it. Hasn't helped that local dealer clueless and car just had a recall notice issued. Been looking at McLaren 570 recently to replace it.

I'm happy in my recently tweaked M5 at present but would consider maybe swapping from the Aston to a GTS.

Hi Steve. The problem we have had is the ESP forever being triggered and the car going into limp. I started a thread 'Warranty' which explains briefly that the car was out for 12 weeks ending up in Affalterbach. MB UK offered to buy the car off me and put me into a W166 2 years newer the situation became so fraught. According to my dealer he has never known them do that other than with nearly new, ours is an 09. I refused to exchange the car, I wanted the 6.2. This time the car returned the same fault code, engine faults seem to go through the throttle pedal which triggers the ESP making the car safe. Technical case was reopened and data sent back directly to Germany. Following that the Germans asked the dealer to check the routing of the intakes. One of the air intakes hadn't been clicked fully into place under the bonnet bulkhead which had caused uneven running, triggering the throttle fault. The ML63 is the only V8 with 2 air quality sensors apparently, the others average across, and apparently it was running unevenly...... The technology of these things never fails to inspire awe in me....

Not experienced the problems you have mentioned, the thing flies. As a **** motorbike courier discovered when he gave me the finger in Brixton recently. I decided not to drive over him at high speed as I didn't want to damage the bumper, the two wheeled *****.
