Used car market is cheap? So ...

It's far better for him to have a really tidy late model small car on his forecourt than a slightly tatty 2001 car that's just into the expensive road tax bracket.

I think an X reg 2001 goes to March 2001 which is not effected by the proposed tax hikes

Update.

Seen the car now.

Alloys need refurbing and rear arches are starting to go. Can't see anything but reach underneath them and you can flake off paint.

Diff seals are weeping too. Anyone know anything about this? Serious? Expensive? Should I sort it now or one of those jobs that will wait a while?

Apart from that - looks mint. Lots of paperwork, brand new tyres and pads.

Re prices, I am finding that anything sub £5k is holding its price pretty well, as it falls into an area of the market where people don't potentially need to get a car loan......its the market above this that is starting to suffer, especially the £10K+ market.

I am also seeing a lot of people down trading from more expensive motors into cheaper cars, ie cars that will hopefully tie them over for the next 24-36 months, until the economy recovers.....in addition to that, people being made redundant and coming out of compnay cars are also feeding the sub £5k market.
