The downside with daily driving something as old as the 190 is going to be parts availability. Not necessarily that something isn't available, but that it's not available right now. You may be looking at 3-5 days because there's not enough demand to hold it on the shelf locally.

Of course, if you have access to other vehicles or can live without the car for a week then that's not a problem, but it's something to consider.

No Lexus estates in the UK since the IS SportCross, but agreed, Lexus go on forever.

It's just such as shame that........

With older cars, you can usually drive around a problem until the part arrives. Not like new stuff that grounds you for a flaky sensor.
 
Lexus for bulletproof reliability. Sometimes I regret getting rid of my is250. Had a nice deep growl when you put your foot down and fuel wasn’t bad for a 200bhp car

My son has a Lexus 67 plate he bought it at around six months old. He has never had a spanner on it. I cant remember which one it is but its a hybrid. Its a marmite car you either like the shark front or you dont, I must say I dont. I am leaning to the Honda Accord at the moment but will carry on with the 190e.
 
If we're talking MB, the M270/M274 engine (4-cyl petrol turbo, 1.6L and 2.0L), fitted from ~2013 till ~2019, is pretty reliable, apart from thermostat failure on the early models.

If not talking MB... then Toyota.
 
Lexus are very well built but you have to be realistic. My sisters RX350 has gone through virtually identical repairs as my CLK of similar/age mileage. Both have drivetrains which will potentially last longer than we’re allowed to use them!

I also love my 190! Makes such a great second car I can’t imagine ever letting it go.

BTW Honda automatic boxes used to be VERY iffy, I would research before buying.

Definitely not BMW or Audi! Or....I fear, Mercedes.

I have a similar dilemma coming up as I want to replace my diesel Audi with a reliable petrol. Mrs wants an SUV. I’d like a new GLC (with revised suspension geometry to resolve crabbing) but the other SUV I really like the look of is the Mazda CX-5. Petrol engines are supposed to be A1 reliable. Although I get worried about rust on Mazda (lack of rust proofing is still a thing).

From experience, that's rarely the issue. It's the "found during service" that catches you out.
