v220 auto box problem

Hi all
while driving my V220 auto, everything is ok until i stop at traffic lights etc,
When i try to pull away nothing happens. But if i turn engine off and restart all is well again untill i next stop.?
Van goes thru gears smooth no problems?
Any ideas chaps

First thing to check is the ATF level and condition.

Engine up to running temp and running.

Cycle through gears.

Into neutral.

Check level.

You may have to buy a dipstick from eBay or ask your local independent to dip it.

The gearbox in the V220 is not a Mercedes one. It has a ZF 4HP20 which was used in many other makes & models:

If you Google it you should be able to find lots of info. on finding & fixing faults.

The only time I had similar problems was when the fluid level was low. There was a slight leak in the cooler caused by a stone strike.
