V230 Fuelpump

Hi all,

This is my first post and i hope turns out to be a sucsess.

The fuel pump on my V230 has just packed up and I need a replacment, I called the freindly people at MB and they quoted me £480 for a new one (they will have to be more than freindly to me to pay that much) so I thought I would see if someone on here could point me in the right direction or have one they might sell to me.

Yes,

The number I have been given is A6384700794, I have been told that the pump has been modified so this is the new version and I have to buy two new pipes to go with it.

You could try Nick at Euromerc ( www.euromerc.co.uk ) , i've looked on the site and he hasn't got one listed , but he doesn't have everything hes got listed on the site. Drop him and email and ask , you never know ....

Its all OEM , no pattern or copy parts.

Ok after a lot of phone calls and questions on ebay i managed to get one for £25 (Mb wanted £480).

Anyway i fitted it today but i still could not start the car, I thought it may have not been the pump after all so i tested the old one and it was definatly dead.

After a few hours of tracing cables back and testing with a volt meter i found if i put a 12v directly to the pump by pulling the relay out the car will start and drive perfectly but the pump is constantly going even if the engine is not running (the 12v feed is from the ignition and the pump goes off when the key is not at position 2).

Does any one know why i am not getting 12v to activate the fuel pump relay?

also is it ok to leave it wired as i have done it?
