Iv been toying lately with the ideas of re-mapping, de-cating, resonator deleting, throttle body enlarging, supercharger pulley upgrading etc etc to get a little bit more oomph out of the old girl.

The old girl being a 2004 S55 AMG Kompressor.

Not saying she's not fast enough in standard form, but just on the odd occasion you just need that little bit more.

Anyways, it occured to me that without having to go through all of the above, what if i was to add a NOS system to the equation instead. Instant power when i need it and normal driving when i dont. :thumb:

Anyone else tried it and think it wasnt all that?
Anyone got any opinions about how well this engine would take to it?

Many thanks.

On the kompressor m113 5.5 running nitrous is said to cause problems with cylinder number 8. A few cars on the US forums run full blown setups which are not quite your average nitrous "kit". Even still they report problems. Your best best is going over to mbworld and searching the E55 section. You'll find a good number of threads. HTH

Thanks mate, il have a gander over there in a bit. So far iv spoken to 2 different places about it, and neither have mentioned that there would be a problem. Interesting!!!

W4SIM, you honestly dont need much more than you already have power wise, NOS is definately not the way to go.

nearly 8 year old car and then you pump NOS into it, its gonna go bang literally!

proper way would be to
- upgrade the HE for cooling even a split cooling system
- crank pully upgrade
- remap

thats it!

if you want faster, id still do the above, but get a lighter car!, w211 or w230

Might want to look up water injection systems for the intercooler too, I think this is quite popular with Japanese forced induction cars.

where will you be able to use this additional power?

+1, NOS on this type of car is surely a quick way of getting the engine to expire.

The insurance implications would also be interesting.

Remap / de-limit is probably the best option, remember again you should also inform your insurers about any modifications. A remap would surely be lighter on the insurance than a NOS kit.

Sorry, I don't see the need for NOS on a 55K.

If you’re planning to run gas then look into the distribution systems available, this will make all the difference, as well as running direct port set-up.
I would advise against a single shot fogger down stream of the throttle body as distribution across the cylinders is hit and miss.
Also, take note that NOS is very corrosive and I’ve seen the coatings on super charger blades flake, yet another reason to avoid a single shot fogger.
NOS is a particular kind of science and most that run it have failures of some type in the end, admittedly, they’re running in excess of 50bhp per cylinder so ratio’s become everything, can’t map fuel AFR accurately with NOS so you need to understand what you’re doing.
The additional heat generated with NOS is immense so don’t be fooled into thinking the engine will run cooler.
Also remember, forced induction cars make very good use of NOS, meaning, if you run a 20bhp shot in jet size it will produce more than this in reality, so for example, if you’re making and additional 200bhp you also be making another 200ft/lb of torque, important to know if your drive train is able to cope.
Moons ago, I used to run a 60 shot with my 4 pot turbo Honda, removed the NOS and went for a bigger displacement and turbo in the end.

Hi

Pulley and Remap will cost you around £1700 that will push you car around 550 bhp
