Valeo or Behr rad

maybe your rad has already been replaced. Could you post some pics, cos its not really clear what you mean!
In my car i could only identify the crimping at the right hand side of the rad, as the left side was fully covered with the fan housing.

I would love to send photos, but at the moment don't know how to do it. ( My son is not around to show me ) Seeing other pictures & reading threads, bher rads have spring wire retainers on all the pipe connections.( mine has ) Is this true? When I find out how to down load pictures I will. I have only recently purchased this car, with full MBSH. Although this doesn't give any details of specific work carried out, I have established that no work has been carried out on the cooling system. But a gearbox oil & filter change was done at 39k. Present mileage 51k. I'm not suffering any problems at the moment, but after reading all the past history, I'm thinking of doing a seperate cooler bypass mod. for peace of mind. What do you think?

Update, I've had another closer look at the crimping & its not zig-zag it's in a wave patten but not continueous. Each crimp is cut in an T - T - T ( asume the verticals are cut from the edge, & then bent in The - being the centre of the wave ) If you understand this you are good. This crimping is clearly visible, looking at the rad. from the back down each side, just outside of the fan housing. look at benzWorld (Valeo radiator identification help) member INDIGOWEHALE there is a photo of bher rad. excactly like mine. The crimping could look castleated but its not, it's the same as i've explained above.

Hi. No it's not like the above. Thats what I call castleated wish i could send photo, but don't know how.

If you look at a photo of a Bher rad. with the continuous wavey crimp, & cut a slot up the depressed wave of the crimp, which in effect would seperate the crimps, (but not as your photo as above is That is what I call castelated.) It seems that I may have a different type of Bher crimping. An earlier version perhaps (03 plate) Hope so, fingers x

look at ALPHA 's thread tag above ( what the hells going on with my tranny) third picture & they call it a notched wavy crimp .my problem is solved. Sorry I should have looked more closely.
