My trusty 2006 W203 is not happy.... after 8 years of faultless service.

It came-up on a couple of occasions with ABS / ESP faults, Tyre Pressure Monitor Unavailable etc.

The fault codes behind these error messages seem somewhat spurious, and when erasing them the car then behaves for a a few hours, until it comes-up again with different fault codes.

Below is a sample:

At current it is fine, I have erased the stored faults:

As far as I can see, the faults codes are:

C1550 - Test voltage supply at control unit N47-5 (ESP and BAS control module)

C1036 - Fault in CANBUS communication with steering column module

C1172 - N49 (steering angle sensor): Internal fault

Sooo.... it's either a sensor somewhere, on the ABS/ESP ECU? Or voltage issues e.g. alternator or voltage regulator?

Your learnt advise will be most welcome!

I suspect the steering column control module is knackered.

A Star will help. Leave the codes in there and pop it into me. Call first.
