Varnishing over decals

Having recently painted my calipers I am going to put decals on. I understand that it is best to put clear varnish over them. Can anyone recommend a brand. I was thinking of using yacht varnish.

Not a varnish, but a clear high-temp clear paint lacquer.

It really depends on the decals you bought. If you bought the laser-cut high-temp vinyl decals, they really don't *need* a clear coat. The factory doesn't do it.
