Its been a while since I have seen a garage that stocks ordinary 4 star leaded petrol for sale.
Now I know why........................

That's cheap! The only garage I've seen locally that does leaded (I think it's in Goudhurst) it's £1.68/litre!

I didnt realise you could still buy the stuff.

I didn't realise you could either, at least until my brother told me. A few years back when he ran a Caterham 7 with a Ford x-flow, it normally drank unleaded with an LRP additive, while really wnating 4 star. One day out the blue he passed a garage serving 4 star leaded and needing a tank full pulled in and started filling. Luckilly for him he noticed the (worse than mentioned above so far as I can recall) price and stopped with what he had put in.

Personally, never seen it. BP 102 ron unleaded still my most expensive fill!

isnt that LRP rather than 4 star?

No. Its not LRP. Its the pucka leaded 4 star juice. Exactly the same stuff that most of used 25 or so years ago.

My old 1970 Lotus Elan only ran well on 5 star so god knows what owners of such cars do nowadays.

Occasionally treat mine to VPower diesel.........that hurts........

The cheaper alternative is a lead-substitute additive, such as Castrol's Valvemaster, which is what I've used in my 2.8i Capri for the past six years, with no problems. The purists may still prefer pure leaded fuel, of course.

thats why i run my fiesta on unleaded.. i shoud really get an unleaded conversion done but runs sweet as a nut for a 28 year old car at the mo :D

Hello, just worked out the price for a Gallon !! £6.35 !! I can remember when petrol was less that £1 a Gallon !! Regards Damian. :)

.................I can remember when you could buy 4 gallons for ONE pound and still get enough change to buy a bag of chips and a saveloy.
