Hi All, I’m getting big noises from my rear passenger wheel on a w211, 2004. What could be the cause. Thanks in advance for any advice. Cheers, Paul

What make are these pads?

Seems like the bits on the sides just sheered-off?

It doesn't look like 'wear' to me, you wouldn't get it on both edges, if it were.

Pads are made like that ,with the edges missing . Id imagine its picked up a small stone ,looking at the wear along the top of the pad .

Dont see anything wrong, some pads have a chamfer like that, it does look like they are old but need a good clean up. The wear at the top due to deep wear on the discs, maybe time for a change ?

The chamfer itself is not the issue, but on closer look the edge where the chamfer starts seems fractured or broken?

It is indeed , maybe a stone got stuck , hence the noise . Maybe the op can comment further on this , if its still noisey.

Morning All, Thanks for your input. I’ll give everything a good brushing and put humpty back together and see if that stops the screech. Cheers

Looks like made from recycled coke cans, are the pads OE or Chinese?A44124F6-8FA0-46BD-A432-1610D6CA9296.jpeg

Looking at the lips 💋 on those discs they are well due to be repaced. The rear side will be as bad. No brake pads will bed into those easily tbh.

Where has

gone ?

Your pistons/calipers need an overhaul as well buddy !

Carefully wrap the pads and discs in gold foil, pack in a solid oak box, and place carefully in the bin. Lots of OE quality replacements out there, avoid cheap like the plague.

I would be changing both pads and discs.
