Nice car. A fair starting point price I would have thought.

Yep it's got pretty much everything going for it - age, spec and mileage - obviously condition should and will (I hope) be A1.

It's obvious that it'll sell for a high price, but it's not far off from EVO prices so it's going to need a dedicated buyer with a big wallet.

As an aside, there's a 16K mile 2.5-16 currently on show at MBWorld in Brooklands from the Mercedes-Benz club :bannana:

Call me an old cynic but I would be interested in the "date" of the last official MB service- and why was the last one "unofficial" ? Maybe a pre-sales service but who knows? I would term the price as borderline "collectors item". What I mean by that is to pay £18k for a 14 year old car with low mileage implies you are going to have to restrict mileage /use to maintain its value to anything like the level you pay for it. For some owners this might prove too restrictive. As a lovely second car for fair days and holidays fine, for day to day transport simply doesn't make financial sense IMHO. Nice car all the same.

Ive never heard of the company selling this car, but they are only a couple of miles away from where I live, may have a drive past,as some of the cars look interesting.:)

Of course it's a collector's item type of vehicle! Not necessarilly one that will never move again, but someone who is going to put a ~1K miles or less a year I imagine.

I don't think anyone imagines this makes financial sense. If some one bought it and then put 60K on it in 2 years it would be a terrible waste!

More of a waste than it never being used...it's what it was built for, to be driven...

I totally agree.
At the end of my mum's road, there is a chap who bought a brand new Mk2 Escort RS1800.
Lovelly car, but it only comes out of the garage once a year to be mot'd, then goes straight back in, is jacked back up and put on stands and the wheels removed.
He covers the discs in grease:crazy: .
He seems to think that it will one day be worth a fortune, but I could not just have it sitting there 365 days a year doing nothing.
At least take it out for a run when the sun comes out.
Last time I saw it, it only had 65 miles on the clock:eek:

Are they all nutters in your street Grav..?? :D

I'm not saying it should never move, but cherish and enjoy it with a little annual use, along with your collection of 30+ other vehicles. That way it gets used and retains it's prsitine as new condition, returning ot it's carcoon between outings.

this car needs to been shown off not cooped up in a garage its a very useable classic should be at many shows and gtg as possible. its not going to gain much more in price. SHOW IT OFF

From the Mercedes190.co.uk club you mean??! It belongs to nick on there

Isn't Nick a member of both - I thought he had it there under the official club that's all :)

It does have a mercedes190.co.uk sticker in it though ;)

Will

Ah yes good point he is a member of both! Car's not really 'from' the Mercedes-benz club though, more from the goodness of his heart I think (and the desire for free valeting!)

I know what you mean Russ although the 'Mercedes-Benz' has an arrangement there with various member's cars being displayed for a few weeks/months at a time - I'll bet that's how it was arranged :)

Will

That is how it's arranged - we (MBOC members ) can offer our cars to be displayed - though bits have gone missing and I wouldn't let them use my Silver Arrow when I had it. Not sure they'd want a Porsche in there now :D .

Just seen this car (the £18K 2.5-16) out and about by Ladbroke Grove earlier, seems a shame to see it looking a bit dirty (lots of brake dust on the wheels etc) and in the rain, considering how special an example it was.
