Hi, a few year ago I had a 2010 Vito sport which developed some steering noise when turning at low speeds, at the time it was a company van and went in to be fixed and they spent ages looking for the issue, saying in the end it was a dry joint that needed lubricating and they found this by ringing a Merc dealer, I now have a Viano with the same problem, the lower ball joints have been replaced so does anyone know which joints it would be, really there is only track rods and the column UJ but I seem to remember they did change this on the last one without any success, I asked the garage that did it but they aren't the brightest and couldn't remember. sometime you also get a loud clunk on full lock.

Thanks

??, the uj on the steering shaft, down line from the steering wheel can get rusty.

yes. there is two one in and one out, i'm going to grease them up

Thanks Well it turns out to be the Uj inside the van, not the one that can be seen in the engine bay, used aerosol Chain lube and the noise dissapeared.
