A friend has now sorted out some family problems and he now wants to start using his 3 year old Viano.

He just parked it up for 18months and left it alone in his back garden.

He tells me he will just charge the battery and that should be that, no worries ????

I told him he should do a little maint before he trys to start it up and starts using it.

It has no warranty due not serviced ever.

Is it worth him getting it to a garage for some maint or should he just take pot luck and charge battery and start driving it should it start ok ??? any comments/views most welcome.

I know many cars over the years have just been parked up and even get sold as brand new, but my view is he may be saving himself some money in the long term and would be safer at a minimum to get it well looked at before he plays with it....!!!!!!!

I would be changing the oil and filters at least.
I would probably think about changing the gearbox oil aswell. :thumb:

Should be fine, just charge the battery and see if it starts.

Parked up for 18 months should be OK IMHO, give the battery a full charge and do the tyre pressures.

Tyres may well have 'flat-spotted' a bit in which case there will be some vibration to start with, but hopefully they will go back into shape within 15 mins or so when driven.
