Viano interior lights

The front interior lights have just stopped working. They can be switched on manually but they don't operate when the front doors are opened, the vehicle is unlocked or when the key is withdrawn. The rear interior lights work as they always have. Can't figure this one out anyone any ideas?

Are you testing them in the dark?

Have a good look at the overhead control switch to see if there just turned off.

In the dark? There are no light sensors. Can you turn off the auto operation of the front interior lights? I wondered if it might be a relay but as I have no way of finding it let alone testing I am stuck. One day it worked as it always had and the next day it didn't.

There is no relay, just the switch and yes you can turn the front off.

OK thanks I shall investigate. I was also thinking that it might be the timer. Its fail safe would be I imagine off.

Well that's embarrassing. How many years have I been driving the Viano? Thought I knew it inside out. You were right you can switch them off although I can't think why you would want to. Any way thanks again and I will put it down to "always read the manual". Thanks.
