Hi all,

We have just had a 2005 Viano import converted to a motorhome. There is a single tone alarm that sounds randomly when driving. It sounds as though it is coming from the rear of the van on the left hand side, possibly where the rear air con unit is housed. There are no warning lights on the instrument cluster nor any malfunctions indicated on the dispplay.

Can anyone advise on what it could be?

Many thanks in advance.

There is nothing down there that would sound an alarm other that the parking sensors.

It doesn't have wiring for a towbar, by any chance? Aftermarket kits often include a buzzer/beeper (generally fitted behind a trim near one of the rear light clusters) that operates with the indicators when something is hitched up. If there was a problem with the wiring (loose wire/connector) that might cause a sound from the rear.

Yes it does have an aftermarket towbar fitted. I'll take a look thanks.

Fingers cross it's solved. Bypass relay for the tow bar replaced yesterday and no spurious alarm sound since. Thanks for the heads-up.
