Viano W639 Engine cuts out when driving

I have a 2005 Viano Auto Diesel. Driving on Saturday evening and after about 30 mins as I was driving at about 35mph the engine suddenly cut out, I managed to coast it to the side of the road. Tried to restart but it was just cranking over and not firing. After waiting for about 20 mins it restarted and drove again for about 10 mins then the same thing happened again. No fault codes have been stored.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Blocked fuel filter can cause faults like these

Crankshaft position sensor? I had it go on mine. It would be OK when the engine was cold, but the sensor failed once the engine warmed up. The ECU (so I'm told) cuts the engine if it can't see the CPS. Let it go cold again, and it restarted.

AA pointed straight to it, got it changed and everything was fine.

I wasn't popular, though... it cut out at the front of a queue at some lights on a dual carriageway! I never knew some of the words shouted at me were actually real...

Hi Speedfreak,
A loose conection on one of the injectors can also cause this if one comes loose it cuts the whole engine. worth checking!
