Vibration at motorway speeds - unknown cause

Hi guys wonder if I get your suggestions on my latest W126 job
I have a vibration felt through the floor and the steering wheel at motorway speeds of 60-80mph. I've had the wheels welded and balanced as they were slightly bent which I thought would fix the issue but the vibration still remains but is lessened.
What could the culprit be now? I'm thinking my next step should be to get a 4 wheel alignment? If not maybe it could be to do with the prop shaft balancing or somewhere else in the driveline?

I'd say if this has lessened the vibration maybe it needs to be readdressed as it may still be the cause of an imbalance in one or more of the wheels

Ditto, 60-80 sounds like prime wheel balancing issues, front and rear if you're feeling it through the steering wheel, and body.

Hi , I have a C207 and suffered from a slight vibration through the steering wheel at 70mph.Two points I would suggest that you look at the condition of the tyres ( I don't mean tread depth ) .

The front tyres were breaking up although they had only covered covered 8000.New tyres and the problem went away.

Many years ago I had a Ford Escort Mexico with Dunlop SP 68 on the car and had a similar problem.

Dunlop agreed to change the tyres but asked if I would tyre something first , agreed , the rep asked me to rotate the tyres through 180 deg on the wheel and rebalance the tyres.

Vibration went away

If you believe the issue is wheel balancing related get on a road force machine. It cured my problems, only issue is finding one and also a skilled operator

I had similar and it was shaking my passenger seat. Turned out to be a buckled alloy wheel. I had the road force balancing done (which is where they found it buckled) and the balancing reduced it a lot until I got the buckled fixed.
