    Hi all

So today my vito 09 catches fire in the engine bay on a circuit.... I've only owned the van for 3 months with 100k on the clock

I did a 20 Minute journey to my work and for the first time my glow plug light came back on for the entire journey. When I got there I smelt burning so opened up the bonnet. There was a flame the size on a Bunsen burner on the top right side of the engine bay. I managed to put it out with three extinguisher and saved the van!!

Can anyone help? have you heard of this before? Common? Is my van doomed?

Thanks for looking and any advice would be appriciated!

I'd get it looked at; it's not meant to do that.

Get it in the main dealers and looked at.

Your telling me it shouldn't do that...sheer panic when it happend. All by chance I caught the fire just as it started...and caught on CCTV

Thanks balge, main dealer said my van wasn't on the recall list even though it sounds awfully similar... They weren't too giving unless I take it to them for £70 an hour...

I have a local garage already on it pretty much straight after it happened. He believes its the glow plug relay circuit. Although he hasn't got back to me today. He did advise to get in to electrics specialists to cheek for arching wire or the loom for problems....

I'm assuming that if this has happened to people before their vans are in the scrap yard... Toasted....

Just to let u guys know, was told the moving components in the circuit board fused together. Thus the fire. Apparently it was just bad luck it happend so a freak acurance. Thanks for the input. :thumb:
