Vito 447 Sport - "Chrome" sidebars / steps / running boards

Hello all,

I've searched the forum but can't find any info. I have the Vito Sport 116 with the "chrome" bars that run down the side at the bottom. I'm not sure if they are called sidebars or steps or running boards.

I'm trying to clean them up, but I'm not really sure what they are made of. They may be chromed aluminium or shiny something else, I'm not keen on stripping the finish off.

What are people using to clean these up?

I saw some on FB do this they said they uused Harpic 10x Power Plus on the Alloys and runnng bars....
Gleaming now. the before and after pics were impressive

I’ve used maguiars metal polysh on something similar before and had a good outcome.

IF they're the same as VW, then plated mild steel. Metal polish should bring them up but not for frquesnt use if you want to retain the finish!
