Sorry if this has already been covered, I did a search but couldn't find anything. I have a fan that is coming on when the vehicle has been switched off for hours! Problem first appeared last week vehicle had been parked overnight and in the morning the battery was flat attached power pack to start it and straight away a fan in engine compartment came on before I even turned on the ignition! I took it to a local specialist who thought it was the air con pressure switch so he bypassed that unfortunately went out to it this morning and I can hear the fan running tried to start it but has drained the battery too much to turn over. I don't want to keep going back to the garage spending money trying different things until we find the problem, does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in anticipation
Dene

It turned out to be a break in the wiring to the fan which was shorting against the body when it rained!

Result ! I was about to suggest a bodge of cutting the positive feed to the fan and mounting a switch on the dash, but then you would have to remember to throw the switch every time you parked up . 🤔

The fan running too much can be air con related so fair play to your specialist for that bit.

I just happened to hear something arcing one day while it was raining and passed the info on to him :)
