Hi guys,

I have a 2009 Vito, 2.1 sport, compact.

Last week I locked my van, came back to it after 3 hours and the fan was still spinning. Lifted the bonnet, couldn't see any problems, slammed the bonnet down, and that turned off the fan. Mechanic said it was the fan relay.

But now, the van doesn't accelerate as it used to, it doesn't have that strong pull. If I turn the engine on and off, it'll be fine for about 30 seconds, and then back to lagging. Feels like the turbo isn't engaging, but I'm not a mechanic, so wouldn't have a clue.

Anyone know what it could be?

Sounds very much like it’s going into limp mode- you ned to go to a merc specialist and get it diagnosed.

Engine fans going off on their own usually is down to a communication issue with the engine control unit or a faulty fan unit. It could be other things too though. It needs an experienced eye to see what the codes and process them.
