vito 111cdi
Hi
I want to fit a alarm to my Vito (639) but don't know whether to try to fit a factory Mercedes one or something like a Autowatch 695 any advice would be welcome.

It's one of those things that sit in the background, mostly ignored until needed or it goes wrong. Don't know how old your van is but the newer it is, if it was mine, the more inclined I would be to fit a genuine one. That's just me, though.

As above, what cab light do you have? come back and I will advise from there.

2 Second generation (W639; 2003–present).

Autowatch 695 is a canbus alarm so that's only good from 2005 onwards . Otherwise before that date is an analogue alarm which would be something like the clam375 if you want Autowatch .

Nice thing about the Autowatch alarms is that you can add wireless switches & p.i.r's.
So for example if you want to alarm your shed/garage/tent home or away.. stick the wireless P.I.R in there & arm your Vito ..&now you have both protected Happy days!

Excellent alarms btw , best choices for me would be between Autowatch & Cobra alarms.

Thanks for the reply . It's a 111cdi 2009 panel van would like to go genuine but that means 45 mile trip to dealer for coding that's why I am leaning towards the Autowatch. Zenman i did pick up a overhead control panel with sensors off eBay a couple of months ago but at the moment my van has got a standard dome interior light, I've been looking at the wiring diagrams apart from the alarm wiring the only wires required to the control panel are can-bus, earth, 25amp live from F34/f24 & isolate existing wires to dome lamp is this correct.

Yes its an easy job, the harness is from MB and plug and play.
That control unit is the hart of the alarm, the siren is around £70 and job done.
That control unit needs an extra harness plugging into the sam unit but with it you can then add auto lights and wipers.
We have done all this a couple of times now.

As Zenman says it has been done by a few of us & if you have a search you should find the thread that was done about it..

Zelman do you know the part number for the loom from the sam to the control unit I've got all the part numbers for the alarm system but can't find this one

I'm in the same boat, just bought a vito and no alarm.

I've read biguns post on how he installed a merc alarm.

can i just ask, how many components are required?

I have a 2012 facelift 113. so i think the latest looms will do, I've not contacted merc yet so have no wiring diagrams etc.

also whats the rough price of everything needed, i know the alarm was £290 fitted when new, but is is mega bucks for the individual components? Just I've spent most of my stash buying the bugger.

Not worried about part no's, just looking stupid if merc quote more than i can aford

cheers

paul

I will look for that harness in a bit.
Forget new parts at MB, the control panel is like £700 but I know Bigun has a mint one for sale, the alarm siren is about £70, plus to harness.
And then like I have said you can then fit auto lights and wipers as it all plugs into the control unit.

Yep, sure ive got a spare one in my garage, if anyones interested??
