Mercedes Vito 2016 in with us @ MSL Performance for an Eco Tune !!!!

Stock:
160.02 Bhp
293.68 Ft Lbs Torque

Tuned:
189.5 Bhp
388.72 Ft Lbs Torque

Up to 8% increase in fuel efficiency

How is the map changed to reduce fuel consumption? Obviously(?) one can't get the greater mpg at the same time as using the increased power/torque?
Is it that the engine produces more torque at lower revs allowing the 'box to shift up sooner?
Manufacturers usually achieve greater mpg by dropping the overall power of the engine, as in various MB models using the same capacity engine but at different power outputs.

I thought remaps generally do give a slight increase in mpg due to the extra torque, so the engine isn't working as hard?

But how does it produce more torque without burning more fuel?
