Please can someone help with this?

I have a 2008 120 cdi Vito.

The Gearbox sensor module has failed.

So, won’t go into to gear etc.

I have spent days trawling through web forums.

And this seems a common fault like Ignition failures.

Went to MB and they could not find part: -A639 545 05 32

Was updated to new part: M HA639 260 01 73 N/STK SHIFT SECTOR

Found out, it’s because it does not now, exist.

So, no-where has them anymore, even Worldwide MB dealers.

Have emailed loads- even aboard- to no avail.

Have sent it to two specialist repair companies in UK.

Even though you book job via part number- they could not fix it

It is not burnt out- etc.- as works randomly still.

A place in Germany fixes them – and load of German e-bay people do.

But they cannot or wont deal with Uk as Brexit.

So does any one know who can fix these in uk?

Else my van and all the Vito taxes round here – are scrap.

If this component fails- this is already my second one.

If I source from braker- the part is still 15 years old.

So will fail like previous two.

So, unless I buy used- then flog the van quick- seems futile.

I also have spent around 7k converting this to off grid camper.

And have spent thousands on maintenance.

Don’t want to scrap this van- or sell it.

Is this the future now –

Scrapped because of tiny component failure?

Come from an era 55years old where I look after things.

But no point as will be forced to bin it anyway now.

Wish I had the brains to fix these myself.

As there is going to be a lucrative opportunity for someone.

I cannot believe that no company in UK has not got the intelligence to fix these.

Just for me, impossible to know- as sent it already to companies that advertise

They fix them – so send it, wait a week to find out they cannot.

Need this for work as electrician.

So lending my mates car at moment…..

Any direction to a decent uk company would be very much appreciated.

There must be one fingers crossed 😊

Ok for any Vito Auto owners out there up to 2014 plate pre facelift.

You need to realise that MB has sold you down the river.

You cannot get this part anywhere and will scrap your vehicle.

You cannot get it repaired in UK - I have been everywhere.

You cannot emulate this part.

No-one in UK has diagnostic equipment to read them.

You cannot get the components to fix them by pure substitution.

This is the most unreliable money pit I have ever owned.

Every expert I spoke to says the hate MB electric’s – most unreliable out there.

I have a 2004 Accord/1989 land rover/1988 golf gti 16v – all still work fine.

My van is 2008 have had everything go wrong.

Get selling them now -as will clearly become scrap value.

I will have to lease a new hybrid one – to save planet.

Is a 'stand alone controller' viable?
Ultimately, the gearbox shifts gears when told to. It won't much care what tells it to. Stand alone controllers enable operation of an auto transmission in the absence of its original controller. Apart from the cost - they tend to be pricey - integrating it into a vehicle that still has a lot of electronics may be difficult.

Thanks for the reply. It's not something I have looked into but from my limited knowledge about the failure I would still need something to register the lever position and movement and it is most likely it is this part of the module that has failed.
