Just got my first merc.......... A 2002 vito 112CDI!
Unfortunately it appears to go in to limp mode when I hit 2500/3000rpm in 5th gear. I have done some basic maintenance; air filter and cleaner electical contacts/plugs etc. This made no difference so I have changed the fuel filter. The new filter did not have the 'sensor' plug underneath so I tried it without and the vito still starts so I would assume it is not neccessary? Unfortunately the van is still unable to rev above 3000rpm.
Any clues/suggestions??????
Does the 112CDI require a fuel filter with the electronic attachment underneath?
If not, should it run ok if the plug is not attached to the fuel filter?
Please bare in mind the problem of going into limp mode was apparent before I changed the fuel filter....
