Hello All
I have a 2008 Vito sport-X with a om642 v6 diesel engine in it. I have slowly been cleaning it up and sorting out all the issues (its going to take a while). I have had a lot of oil go through the turbo and it looks like it has at some point eaten a red airbox inlet seal as the impeller looks rough. The turbo has a little end float wear but I will be replacing it at some point in the next few months.
I am looking for any info you can give me on a new intercooler, mine has had a lot of oil down the pipe so I would like to change it for a clean one.

After looking at all the aftermarket ones online, I now see that some websites have an option for manual or automatic trans......Is this an option that I need to consider on the Vito/OM642?
Does the auto box get its cooling from the turbo intercooler or is it a space thing?
As I can't find the physical difference online I thought I would ask you guys.

While I'm on the subject, is there a good aftermarket intercooler worth taking a look at and are we all still paying crazy money for the 2 hoses from Mercedes or has anyone made a good, reliable move to silicone/ metal tubing that they wish to share?

Thanks for your help with this and I'm sorry if it has been asked a thousand times before (if indeed it has).

Si

On the OM642 in my w212, there’s definitely only turbo pipes connected to the intercooler, nothing near or connected to the gearbox. Just one pipe either side. Sorry I can’t be of more help!

That's what is confusing me too, I know I have a separate gearbox cooler rad so and that's up front with all the other rads so not sure why the auto/manual option would be asked when looking for a new one.
I'll compare the sizes of the two items and give someone a call when I'm back from my holiday next week.

In the meantime if anyone has an answer about pipework or they know about the cooler options then please chime in.

Thanks for the help.

Intercooler serves intake only.
I can't remember the order of fit but there are,
coolant rad,
AC rad,
steering rad,
auto rad,
intercooler.
You should be able to trace the in / out pipework fairly easily.

I'm thought all V6 639's were auto, could be wrong.

This might help you narrow your search
