I have a 2008 Vito sport-X with a om642 v6 diesel engine in it. I have slowly been cleaning it up and sorting out all the issues (its going to take a while). I have had a lot of oil go through the turbo and it looks like it has at some point eaten a red airbox inlet seal as the impeller looks rough. The turbo has a little end float wear but I will be replacing it at some point in the next few months.
I am looking for any info you can give me on a new intercooler, mine has had a lot of oil down the pipe so I would like to change it for a clean one.
After looking at all the aftermarket ones online, I now see that some websites have an option for manual or automatic trans......Is this an option that I need to consider on the Vito/OM642?
Does the auto box get its cooling from the turbo intercooler or is it a space thing?
As I can't find the physical difference online I thought I would ask you guys.
While I'm on the subject, is there a good aftermarket intercooler worth taking a look at and are we all still paying crazy money for the 2 hoses from Mercedes or has anyone made a good, reliable move to silicone/ metal tubing that they wish to share?
