Vito Rear Seat Conversion

Hi

Iv just brought a Vito and the previous owner has added rear seats but not very legit. They are on a steel welded frame bolted to the floor in the four corners, but it's not on the v5 as a six seater still as a three. Is this set up ok or do I need to change it to a six, then get it checked at a MOT station?

Thanks

Sounds a bit dodgy, did they put windows in the side doors too?

I would personally want to get it checked out regardless as that's a lot of weight to come flying forward if you have an accident and it comes loose.

Could be an issue with insurance too.

The near side door does have a window yes. Is there a law on this then?

Not as far as I know, it's just an indicator as to how cheap and potentially nasty the conversion was.

Firstly many thanks to Koolvin for your kind words but I'm only one of a few members who do mods on Vitos! But if you check mine & Zenmans post regarding fitting the rear seats you will get a run through of how to do it.. as regarding strength the the plates described in the fit should be a lot stronger than the captive nuts that is fitted as standard.

Ok thank you do you have a link to your how to's?
Regards

Or just do a search for Vito seats, I think it was!! But many retro fits have been done since!!

I had some decent aftermarket seats fitted in my Sprinter and got a certificate from the company that carried out the works.
Insurance on the Vito will be a problem if not declared or if it is a poor installation.

Im looking into removing my bulkhead and fitting rear seats, can't you post links as the search function isnt working right now..

I was concerned how the back of the headlining etc will look with the bulkhead removed too..

Hi guys ! As i’m new i would like to say hello to everyone! As i’m a new keeper of a Vito van xlwb i would like to convert it to a travelliner! Does anyone know someone to fit the rails for the seats? I’ve got full interior but i need someone to fit the rails as i don’t want to be one of the idiots who is doing dodge jobs ! Thank you !

Yes dig deep and you will see how I did this to look factory fitted with genuine parts.

It's a thread that has been well used I believe & even copied and used by others on different forum's. It is a great method devised by Zenman it has to be said, to achieve a factory finish.
