My 2007 Vito has a a few annoying issues which i want to work my way through!

One of which being the passenger side sliding door doesn't open from the outside,

When i unlock the van with the fob the door doesn't open from the outside, and if i go in the back and try open it, the door opens! so if i then close it and open it from the outside it will open no problems until i lock and unlock the van again! occasionally it will open from the outside after unlocking but its pain!

What do i need to do?

Thanks

Wildcard answer but on the inside of the sliding door there isn't a latch/button resembling a sort of reverse child lock is there?

Sounds like the unlock part of the central locking isn't working on that door. Vitos don't have deadlocks so it will always open from the inside. Try cleaning the contacts on the forward pillar

Hi, did you manage to fix this?

I've got the exact same issue however mine started after someone tried to break in through that door so handle was bit damaged!

My last vito did this after I tried to open the side door when it was frozen shut, turned out that I had strained the rod / mechanism from the handle

Thanks

I've got vito 2018 but sliding door isn't opening from inside first door wasn't closing properly you had to slam it to close but now it's not opening from inside the inside handle is loose but it's fine from outside handle

Thread resurrection Mine ( W639 Vito ) opens from the inside but wont open from the outside , when pulling the handle it has no resistance when it should have some resistance as it engages on the way out with the mechanism at about 5-8mm pulled ( compared with the drivers side ) so is it replace the handle from the outside ie pull the handle and loosen the star bolt in the door jamb and move wrangle out and replace? Or is it door card off and lookey see at the mechanism ?

There are cables that connect to the door opening mechanism,
along that cable there is an adjuster.
Maybe the nipple has come out at the handle, or the cable has stretched.

Door trim off, and see if pulling the cable on the handle side of the adjuster opens it.
Assuming it is electric you then need to get your hand out sharpish.

Got the Trim off and the cable has some broken strands so ordered a new one ( in Today ) it was detached from the handle all by itself its not electric as its my 2007 120CDI still going but now with an oil leak probably the dreaded oil cooler but now at 280K But i cant see how the cable attaches to the handle difficult to see in as its occluded by metalwork both sides , so i thought i ll take the handle off yo look at the end of it but it isnt coming off Ive loosened the torx in the door jamb and the handles all loose but cant actually extract it presuming its the handle / rear bit that comes out first so stuck there at the moment wondering how i attach the new cable at that end once it arrives
regards Boyd

I have had the lock mechanism out from the other end, but not the handle.
I would have thought that the nipple is a cranked nipple, but it is a guess.

Sorry, not much help.

Are these photo's helpful?

thanks M80 ( Martin ?? ) Sorted thanks what was happening was the torx in the door jamb isnt just loosened as vids show but needs to be undone and removed now with the handle hanging out i can now see the attachment point so onwards and upwards now just attach new cable and refit the trim along with a few more of those pesky green trim clips
