Hi,
Do the MB mudflaps require drilling through the steel front wings?
I want mudflaps to my new Vito W447 sport when I get it. However, I am wary about designs that require drilling steel parts and the subsequent future risk of corrosion. That shouldn't be an issue for the rear mudflaps assuming they only fix to the rear plastic bumper? But the latest W447 model has gone back to steel front wings where my previous model Vito W639 has plastic front wings.
The dealer has quoted circa £100 just for the mudflaps i.e. excluding fitting at circa £100/hr. No chance I am paying £200 for 4 mudflaps!
I've found apparently OEM mudflaps for £36 on ebay, (originate from China, but stocked in a UK warehouse) but they have confirmed they do not supply MB OEM fixings. They supply generic self taping screws.
More importantly they have still to confirm if I have to drill the wing. Is the wing pre-drilled or does it attach to the inner plastic wheel arch?
