Finally, I have seen my new collectable item and a few pics enclosed.

For those who doesn't know what this is.....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_760#Volvo_780

This example that I have bougt, is a Light Brown Metallic 1987 equipped with a 2.8l V6 with 156 bhp (no catalyser!). Only 119000 kms on the clock in 22 years! Found it in Sweden where it has been standing in a heated garage for the last 6 years waiting for some TLC. Since 2 weeks, the car is in Berlin where it will be parked up and displayed for shows and driven occasionally by me on usual visits that I do for work.

It runs great for its age. Starts straight away, smooth 4-speed auto gearbox and all electrics still work. Heck, even the heated seats work! The seats are great, big and extremley comfortable (no suprise being a Volvo).

Needs some attention. The back box has already been changed (see pic), but rear shocks needs changing, an oil leak has been fixed and some other things like tyres, service, this that and the other. Oh, for some reason the front speakers have given up. But original radio works fine.

Yes, that is my car's gearbox. Had a small oil leak between engine and gearbox. A new gasket too care of that problem.

Doesn't look too bad to be 22 yrs old!

Welcome to the world of 1987. Everything works, all switches, gauges and lights.

Well, all works, but AC needs new gas and the front speaks dont say a word!

There are still quite a few more items to fix and sort out. Once all this have been ironed out in the next couple of months or so I will treat this baby to a full exterior and interior detail. Once this is done, one could eat dinner on the engine and the paintwork will look like new.

Can't wait!

:)

Car is finally done and I will bring the car to the UK on Wednesday next week. Can't wait to cruise on long motorways through Europe in this. :)

Soon after some minor alterations to the headlights and speedo, car will be ready for UK roads.

Some new pics that arrived yesterday, just after car was finished with its interior and exterior detailing.

Straight edges - typical Volvo! Some parts need attention of paint.

Designed by Bertone and partly built in Turin and Gothenburg, making the car costing some £35K in 1987

The "monster" - a B28E in Volvo language. A 2.8 litre V6 with 156 bhp and 245 Nm of torque. Quite nice pull if you want to :)
