E55k AMG Sold / S211 E320 CDI I6 sold W212 E63 6.2 N/A saloon. S212 e250 cdi .
The s212 e250 cdi 2010 year I purchased back in December is an SE model. The previous owner put lower springs on the front to That of the OE type. The car drives really well cornering and so on. It just sits to low at the front. I'm finding it makes a noise when going over the speed humps that you can straddle. Or any deepish type pot holes or deep road imperfections.

My question is, would reverting back to OE springs improve this type of noise I'm experiencing going over speed humps and pots holes in general. Also would it really change the dynamic of the car on a cornering aspect. Would it feel more wafty in the corners.

Hope for some advice, thanks.👍

Meant to also asked. What price should I expect to pay to have both front springs replaced?

He only lowered it at the front?

What mileage is the car on ?
Might be other worn front suspension stuff ?

Hmm....they are tail high from the factory..... so it must be very raked now.

Passed Mot in February nothing showed up there. I use it daily but I've only accumulated 1500 miles since had it. It's got I think Knb lower springs on the front.

The car does sit nose low which I don't like personally. I just want to put original height springs back on. It drives rides brilliantnt over any surface that's decent. Any humps and deep pot holes can notice the crunch so to speak. It's as if the spring is on its lowest limit. As said perfect for motor way and a and b rds. Humps and pots holes are the danger.

Hmm, that’s a KYB part number for a regular height spring. It will not be tailored to the specific vehicle options like a genuine spring would. KYB provide a “middle ground” aftermarket spring which suits pretty much all as long as you replace the pair. Both the CLS and the E of this vintage run quite low at the front, and the front engine undertray will touch many speed calming humps even with the factory springs. I’m talking about the ones that look like a tank-trap in the road. I tend to run one front wheel over the hump rather than straddling it with a wheel each side. Unless you crawl over it you will touch base, so to speak ;)

I actually do the same as yourself with them type of speed humps. I've had to remove the second furthest back under body splash shield because as you have said it catches on many humps and raised objects in the road.

Looking on autodoc it lists loads of options for the w/s212. They have some great deals on at present. I thought the kYB brand spring was a lowered height spring compared to the standard height spring.

Could anyone confirm the OE spring height on a standard SE suspension spring.

If possible could someone provide the OE height spring for the SE suspension. Or the correct spring I need in general. As I've read the height of the car on OE springs for my car is 85mm gap from top of the tyre to bottom of the wheel arch. I currently estimate I have about an 25/30mm gap. Which makes me believe it's definitely on lower springs.

Thanks

My s212 E250cdi AMG line is outside the house right now, but I am on the sofa and not going out there. I will measure it in the morning for you if I remember. Fyi, stock original springs, 72,000 miles.

With yours being AMG line would yours be on sports suspension. Mines an SE model.

What brand would the OE springs be on the SE w/s212. As autodoc have some brilliant deals on and the deals run out in couple hours. Would be great to buy some on the deal price. 👍

I went ahead and ordered two Ridex coil springs from Autodoc. Got two for the price of one basically. They are for a non sport standard suspension vehicle s212 e250. So hopefully they are the correct ones. I had two minutes left on the offer they had running so as said please God I have chosen correctly 🙏🙄

Not wishing to wee on your chips. I have been down the cheap spring route and found that they are not a good idea.
Appreciate your advice cheers.

The original price isn't much cheaper than the better known brands like Sachs, the price reduction on the Ridex springs did seem good value. Reading up on them they have good reviews. Surely they will last a couple thousand miles lol. If they are the correct height is my bigger concern right now 🤣. The spec read up seems to be correct so all will tell when have fitted I suppose 😬

Just a quick one , If noting the height of the wheel arch before doing and suspension work/mods especially when asking others what their ride height is it is better to measure from the centre of the wheel cap to the arch rather than the tyre.

Different tyre/wheel combinations will give different measurements. :thumb:

I was asking for the height of a standard size OE non sport spring.

The height of a non sport spring with standard suspension is 393mm. The brand I have purchased read 420mm.

I can't imagine the springs l free height will tell you anything.....all it takes is the shorter one to be slightly thicker/stiffer than the taller one and it could actually sit higher when installed.
