Can anyone point me in a good direction on the internet for spares for a '78 450SL (W107).
In particular I am trying to source the weatherseal, hood cover to body. Its the seal on the body that the rear edge of the hood cover seals against when the soft top is down and the cover closed.
Also, are veneers or the cover available for the centre console, the one that surrounds the gear lever?

Mercedes Benz Poole are classic parts specialists. I think Milton Keynes are aswell. Might be worth giving them a call first.

The soft-top lid seal is part No A1077580198 and is available from any Merc dealer although, as mentioned, MB Poole is particularly good at sourcing older parts. The new seal should be glued into the base of the channel using a gun mastic of some sort. EvoStik No-nails is my favourite. You will be very lucky if the inner edge of the channel isn't rusty in some place or other usually at the front inner edges.

The gearchange panel is either burl Walnut or Zebrano wood. Frighteningly expensive new (if you can find one) but check on 107 breakers on ebay. There are many variants so you will have to note which switches you have before buying. Walnut is dark brown and has no direction to the grain. Zebrano is more orange and the grain direction runs across the car. The veneer is not available on it's own from Merc but there are several veneer shops on Google if you feel up for a bit of woodwork DIY. :D

With an older, classic Merc, as well as the advice from this forum, you would be well advised to join the Mercedes-Benz-Club, many of whose members specialize in R107's.

Thanks Druk and GP801 for your help. Seal now sourced!!Poole wanted £99.60 delivered but I found this vendor on Ebay that other SL owners might find useful:

mercmansl53 | eBay

He has a range of OEM seals, the one for the soft-top lid was £61.95 with postage so I treated myself to the soft-top rear seal as well!

Thanks again for invaluable help!

I think you will find these are not MB parts, and will be a pain to fit.

Been there, done that, ended up with MB parts.
