General information about technical literature for Mercedes-Benz classic cars

Workshop manuals
Our workshop manuals have been designed principally for trained personnel and After-Sales staff working in our Mercedes-Benz workshops. Each manual begins with a design group directory which contains the opening to the manual, and is the same for all passenger cars. Little by little, information about the work that is essential in our specialist workshops
was added to the group directory by our central service department. It is not comparable to an index. A workshop manual describes repair work in individual stages with the aid of diagrams, photographs and tables. As the only company to provide such a manual, DaimlerChrysler is also offering this comprehensive workshop information for private customers. It can provide tips to experienced DIY restorers, but it should not be used as complete set of instructions for a restoration or repair.

Wow! Excellent, thanks for the links we are currently attempting to sourch parts so we can restore our 1968 280S.

Recommendations for service in Sydney, Australia:

Mercedes-Benz McIntosh of Mosman (Speak to Steve Roberts) - These guys take pride in servicing older Mercs. The Service Manager rallies a 3.5 of his own, and as such takes a particular interest in older cars.

Alexandria Service Centre (Speak to Zam) - These guys are known locally as a good place to take older cars. They've been recommended to me by MBSpares in Canberra.

I'll have to keep digging.

Getting my hands on the complete MB bookshelf for the car soon. Hopefully it will be a gold mine of information. Fingers crossed - around the 8th of August.

Keys:

(These guys will create new keys by code, or by sending them a photo of your current keys. They charged me AUD$33 for two new primary keys.)
