All, I have a W123 230CE in need of a 36k service.

I have narrowed down the choices to:

Stevensons near Maidstone (Steve Garlick)

or

Wright Tech UK

I am leaning towards Stevenson's even though its further to travel as the phone calls I have had inspired far more confidence. Wright Tech is 2 miles away though..

Thoughts ?

As a professional in the retail car servicing provider business what is the criteria you are using to select the shops you have mentioned?
Curious.

I have used Andy on all my cars for many years with zero problems. This includes a full rebuild on my fully restored 124 4-Matic, engine & gearbox. He also does all the work on my rare C55 Wagon. He is not a talker on the phone ;^). He prefers to just get on and do the job. It's a family run business. Tell him Bruce said hello. He will look after you.

Hello, I had a look on forums for general views of specialists close to my home. Both have given me quotes and both quotes are within £20-30 of each other.

As its an older car I want to be sure that the mechanic is familiar with the W123 series. TBH one garage I spoke to seemed fully versed in the M102 engine and all that would need doing, the other place I spoke to a nice lady on reception and not the mechanic. I know its because the mechanics are busy rather than answering the phone, but speaking to the actual person who would do the work made me feel more comfortable.

Kind Regards

Thanks Bruce, that's given me food for thought.
