Hi

I want to replace the rubber / felt seals that sit vertically and interior between the rear and front windows. I've looked through the chassis and body manual and can't see any reference to removing these seals at all. Does anyone have any ideas? Don't just want to start pulling and forcing them off in case I damage something.

This is the seal component itself and you can see it in the context of the other parts in the diagram rubber seal / outer | 230CE Mercedes-Benz w123 Coupé | Niemöller

Thanks

If I remember correctly back in the day I replaced mine on my W123 Coupe and they were push on seals.

Hi.

Thanks for replying. Yes they we slotted into the metal channel affixed to the glass itself. They just pulled out in the end.

Can someone please explain/show/help a man chimp of little brain how to do this please? I have the seals, took me a while to get them, and I am now slightly concerned my thick fingers and Neanderthal finesse may screw it up.

Water has been ingested all winter due to them both disappearing.

Hi

Not sure If I used the official method... but anyway, I removed the old seal by pulling from the very top towards me rather than trying to slide the seal vertically upwards out of its channel. I had to use some long nose pliers at first as mine were glued in place.

I then cleaned up the glue and channel best I could. The new seal I inserted vertical downwards into the channel and I sprayed some silicone lubricant to help slide down. From there it was just a case of pulling downwards and pushing downwards from the top. It got a little stiff towards the very bottom as the channel kinks about 20 degs or so off vertical towards the rear of the car. I found I had to keep adjusting the window height a little bit up and down to pull and push the seal into its final place.

Hope that makes sense

Thanks Gizzardio, will attempt not ruining them this weekend!
