w123 engine conversion

hi everyone does anyoe know what engines can be put in a 1979 w123 with relative ease or what have people managed to fit in the past

Anything you like can fit in there, depends on how much you want to spend. Past conversions are normally the m117 v8 from the s class, but I'm sure there are others.

Did you have anything in mind?

I actually like the 230E engine... its a good balance for the W123 and with 5 speed manual its perfect..
However if you want to go mad the M117 560 is the way forward but there are several modifications required - by no means plug and play.

+1 for the 230E engine or seeing that your car is a 200D, perhaps a powerful engine from a 300D or even TD

was thinking of a compressor but im open to anything obtaining a full car would be favouerd but still needs to be fairly cheep i dont think i;ll get a v8 cheep

I don't profess to understand such things, but this car doesn't look like it has the engine it was born with. I don't know what it is, but I guess it must work.

May be one of chevrolets "LS" series of engines.
