Hi all,

I have just spent a lovely Sunday working on my 300TD as it is MOT time:

It failed on smoke, CV gaiters, parking brake.

1. I Moly Lube Diesel purged and must admit to being amazed by the results, it is quieter and the smokiness has gone... result

2. Now, I knew these had gone after a round trip to London and back from Leicester. One of the shafts started knocking and all of the gaiters split, one had been split before. I have spent months trying to find a pair and managed to get a new one and a used one from Ebay as no one in the UK seems to sell them any more, not GSF, KMS or Wonderpartz. Now I get the knocking on deceleration all of the time and not only when the car has done 10 miles of so... one of the half shafts is defective, how do I tell which one? Can I get a new one from anywhere?

3. So easy to adjust I laughed

All in all pretty good, the MOT re-test is only on the previously failed items so the duff half shaft should get through, however, the levelling suspension has stopped working since putting it up and it is like riding a rodeo again. I did manage to drop the diff which unseated one of the banjo's on an accumalator (Brand new as well) but I just tightened it back up and it stopped leaking.

Any help will be appreciated!

Darren

CV gaiters are not an MOT failure on the rear axle!
