As part of my quest to find the knocking noise I have, I need some clarity on the rear suspension. Are these statements true?
The rear subframe is attached to the chassis by two large bushes under the rear doors
The differential is bolted to the subframe (or rear axle carrier as Mercedes call it) via four bolts
The differential is then attached to the chassis via the rear mounting.
There are therefore only three mounting points for the rear suspension to the chassis
Could it be that either the bolts holding the diff the the frame are loose or one or more broken?
I get the impression that the diff hits the chassis. All the mountings I mention are new on my car
This is driving me nuts..
