w124 18'' wheels

Hi all, my first post hoping for some advice

I have just brought a W124 300ce '92, I'm looking to lower it and change the wheels to a set of 18''. Can you please advise me on what size wheel, offset and tyre I can use on say a 40mm drop. Also what springs I should look to purchase

If you`re thinking for 40mm drop,18s would be to big unless you get a low profile tyres.17s 5x112 with 225/45 would be the way to go,but you might end up with 215/45

I fitted 18's to my W124,

fronts 8.5 x 18" 225/40/18 ET35

rears 9.5 x 18" 265/35/18 ET38

With standard susspension they rubbed on every bump, I then lowered the ride height by 40mm & as you could imagine things just got worse.

I looked into rolling the arches but the wheels were actually exceeding the arches so this would of done nothing,

I reckon you'd get 18" on but they'd have to be narrow 7.5J maximum.

Saying all that 17" are more than enough & tyre will be less expensive

Looking at the manual I found online it appears to be 15x6.5 49mm offset with a 195/65/15 tyre.

I'd think that's gonna limit you do 215/35 as an 18" tyre, and try and find some 7.5" rims.

I think I'd stay at 215/45 on a 17x7 or 17x7.5 and aim for a 40 offset at a guess - speak to a specialist...

no your right slight stretch, height will be fine just concerned about width of a 8J, 7.5J would be perfect I would think but one offered are 8's ???

so looking at 215/35/18's 35et on 18 x 8J with a 40mm lowering kit, you think that will be ok?

I reckon you'll find the 40mm drop a bit extreme - would seriously suggest going to 17 inch and watching the offsets, if they offset is 40-45 you've got more leeway than 30-35.

Sorry mate,i`ve forget about the drop.I doubt they`ll rub mate,so in my opinion get some 17s.Are you gona change the shocks,what you gona go for?
