New job on Ray for Monday i need to fit this little devil [pic] Could not find the right copper washer so i went for 12 mm x 20 mm x1.5mm its more like 13 .5 mm but special washers only from MB .So sat here and use sand paper to open up the washer to fit the filter .Screenshot 2024-08-25 at 09-19-09 Mercedes W124 M103 distributor fuel line filter.jpeg .

Yep. I did that. I think I bought the washer and filter from Pelican Parts. Dead easy job. And if you decide to get the right washer, dead easy to replace.

Well done.

Ray Looking at the filters , not many come with a copper washer ...i was thinking of re uesing the old one .But as the filters are cheap to buy, i never thought about the washer ..I was about to buy a washer kit, but the size is odd and it would not be in the kit .. I could do with getting the hydraulic lifters replaced .Because i could drop a thrust disk in the engine with my hands INA LIFTERS .png how they are. So that job is stuck in the pipe line for now. I purchased all 12 of the hydraulic comensarors years ago for cheap . So before she goes i need to do this for the new owner .

MB's cost-cutting has resulted in no washer with the oil filter for the oil drain plug. We pay MB 8€ for oil filters and I now have a box full of copper washers.

It wasn't like that in former times.

You are right Ray ...i have bought so many parts that dont have the nut or bolt included .Or even a simple gasket. Mind you Ray the pick and pull yards are stripping out a a car door of glass and in some cases the hinges just to get extra cash for them later on . I can see rear lights for our cars ,but looking close find its only the frear glass part ,, the bulb holder is in another listing, making the light double the price .I purchased a pair of rear lights for my car a few years ago ,they only cost me £20 and that was inc postage .Looking up to £200 for a pair now. EZL cost me £90 now looking up to £300 if you can find them ..

Ray on to my next project ..Steerings as been stiff for some time, ,i dont ever remember it being otherwise ..So i ordered a pair of bottom ball joints off Ebay shop - Mercedes at Newcastle . Just under £80 for the pair ..Paid for them without asking if nut and bolts come with them..They said no they come without fixing bolts. So i asked the price of fixing bolts message came back £39 for a pair of bolts ..i then canceled my order . Went to Autodoc and ordered a pair of Lemforders at £50 all in bolts included .
