W124 300CE | Barn Find | AMG Build | 26k Miles

Shell is being painted this week and hopefully I will have the car ready in time for Players Classic on Saturday - Fingers Crossed!

Sending the AMG/MOMO steering wheel to Royal Steering Wheels | Exclusive look, unique feeling tomorrow as it will be fully retrimmed in Alcantari Black. Should look great against the black leather!

I got some refurbished staggered 18" monoblocks going on. Next year ill invest in some 3 piece AMG/Oz Futuras, but ive spent enough on it this year!

If the 15s are going to be surplus once the 18s are on mate and you want to shift them let me know, on the look out for a set for my 190 :)

Build looks epic mate :thumb:

Sadly I will keep hold of these as they will always be useful for storage wheels over winter. I have some C Class 15's with a bit of tread left on all wheels that you can have for £50? However, they would look terrible on your 190!

What a fleet !!! Love the E55 / SL

Nice project

Thought I'd share some respray pictures, will be fitting all the parts soon! I also had the retrimmed steering wheel back, very impressed with the alcantara!

I do believe that that is the nicest rendition of that particular steering wheel I think I have seen there Mr Dan....:):)

How much for the paint and what system did they use, Glasurit, PPG etc etc....if you don't mind me asking???

Not sure what system they are using to be honest, but all there work is high quality etc.

Its around the £2000 mark, including the flat polish etc

Got the car back, just need to fit all the parts and send it back so it can be flat polished. After that, its just interior bits but more importantly, I can drive it!

Definitely need more pics Dan!

What were the biggest challenges with painting this car...??

Awesome build thread, keep the pics coming :thumb:

I had an w124 E320 coupe for a couple of years, wish I kept it now....

Pictures as promised! I love being behind a W124 after a few years!

But first, I had problems with being too low and rubbing. Not sure if I was drunk, but I ordered some stretched tyres, which looked terrible (see photos). I've been there and done that, so I ended up swapping the springs for the AMG springs I had stored, which has a decent drop but I want a tiny bit more. It is current on the "two" rubber shims (I believe 13mm) which Ill change to "one" rubber shims which are 8mm.

Note: I forgot to put the jacking hole covers and tow eye in before the pictures!

Hoping to finish off the interior if I have time this weekend and will get some good photos of the interior. Instagram seem to like the W124

I thought side repeaters were needed in UK to pass the mot

Thats a very good question and I havent thought about that. They are Mercedes stamped original wings, maybe something to do with when it was in Hong Kong in its early days?

That will be construction and use regs, not MoT. All they're worried about on the yearly ticket is that if they are there, they must work. If they're not there...

IIRC there's something to do with the front/rear indicators having enough wrap around that it meets requirements. Don't quote me on that though!

Putting the SL into hibernation this weekend, so thought I get a few snaps of them both!

Dan , that w124 looks great.

What would finish it off a treat would be black centres and a polished / diamond cut lip on those AMG's :thumb: that grey isn't doing it for me :(

I know what you mean, I really like them at the moment but as mentioned at the beginning of the thread, I will probably get some dished/split wheels next year!
