W124 300D OM603 diesel pre filter

The prefilter on a W124 300d is located on the fuel in hose located in the engine bay, if you look through the inlet manifold or underneath it, you should see it.

This could have been removed though and just have a complete pipe.

Regarding your picture, thats not what the prefilter looked like on our one, but it could be the original part.

hi again, just changed my pre filter, did put some diesel in it before install but it wasn't possible to fill it right up so left some air in it. started the engine after some cranking and it runs sweet, but there is still air in the pre-filter. is this ok? i've driven a car for about 10 mls after changing and all is good, just pre-filter it's not filled with diesel right up?? is this normal?
thanks

Hi

Drive away at her and never worry, the pocket of air might shift at some stage but if it does or doesn't it won't cause you harm either way.

Yes ,that your Diesel pre-filter

Or in Mercedes-Speak "Primary"

The Bosch version is slightly more elegant,in that any nasty comtamination
(Water/Fungus/Trash) is readily visible to the naked eye.
