Hi All,

Following on from an earlier thread regarding problems switching off my 300TD, it appears that either the shut-off valve is faulty or there is an intake of air somewhere in the vacuum system leading from the ignition switch.

Can anyone give me a few general pointers on how to properly diagnose and repair - my mechanic cant take the car until next week and I am growing a little weary of popping the bonnet every time I want to turn off the engine

Thanks

hi i think the vacuum system may have a leak
try to put headlights on and use headlight roll switch (by the light switch)
to see if lights go up and down , if not listen at the roll switch for hissing
and also look under bonnet for yellow one way valves that can leak vacuum
fix the leak and fix the turning off problem
