w124 300d on autotrader

Any thoughs on this anyone? Things to check? Good / bad. without seeing/driving the car i know but my brother is interested and he's some 400miles away!!

Has chrome arch covers on the rear, not normally a good sign.
One painted mirror?
Can't quite tell from the pic's but it looks like someone has had a go at the boot lock and looks a little rusty round it.

As with any W124, always worth a look though! Couple of good things to haggle with!

Start by removing the steering wheel cover!!!

looks like a nice car, that. 15 miles from me but I know little about diesel cars unfortunately. what an irony that its close to me and your bro is in edinburgh, and i need to pick up a car north of edinburgh, but its a trailer-only job . drivers seat excellent for a w124.
no website so i suspect its a "home" trader, the other 4 cars all piccied in a car park too. looking at the phone number's area i suspect its an auction buy (no offence to those in that area).
needs investigation thoroughly, however its not expensive at all so not a huge £ risk. just check its not a ringer and the gearbox/engine aint knackered, check the fluids etc. It will want money spending thats for sure, but it may be a good base car to start with. whilst i take any history with a pinch of salt these days unless i see receipts, if it was gonna be clocked I would have thought it would have been wound lower than 150k ?

Looks okay for a grand I wouldn't get all that concerned with mileage etc at this price point, buy it on how it looks/runs/drives today rather than how many miles it's supposedly done or what some old paperwork might say.

If I'm honest, the seats look a bit *too* clean/unworn (plenty in scrappers these days..), and coupled with a covered steering wheel + shiney grab handle on the door card + taxi drivers favourite model...

Who knows, but if it's got no major faults then it's a nice car for the money.

Looks clean, might have a little sniff at that one myself!!!

Nothing to add , other than looking for fluid leaks , I like the fact it has a period Blaupunkt radio and 3 keys , expect rear arches are scabby under the chrome , cant go too far wrong for a bag of sand ! Grab it somebody.

Green one looks cheap and worth the money to me, especially as the mileage is on the low side for a 300d

Same, kind of goes for the silver one with air.....but I would advise getting the mileage checked out by way of an RAC Data Check and the arches puts me off.
