The aux belt tensioner damper (small shock absorber) bushes have perished, there is significant at play top and bottom fixing. Also, a rattling sound started a few days ago and upon checking all the front end pulley area, noticed that the water pump pulley has a slight play when pushed front-back and it also emits slight coolant from hub when moved. With engine running at idle, I took a long thin screwdriver and used it as a stethoscope carefully prodding all the front engine bits connected to the pulleys and noticed that the rattling sound was most obvious with the screwdriver on the water pump body. Have ordered the damper, tensioner pulley and the water pump.
Would be grateful if anyone has anyone got any PDF diagrams/notes on removal procedure for the aux belt, tensioner pulley and the water pump or can describe in detail on best way to carry out the work?
Should the aux belt damper be in tension at all times? Mine is quite loose and is easily moved by hand!?!:(
