Nice car - went for more than I could bid :-(

Let me know if you are every selling (the mat) I'll be first in line.:):thumb:

Anyone seen this one on Autotrader is even cheaper with full Mot and lower miles - devoid of any further description though.

Love the interior, but wonder what horrors the chrome arches are hiding.

I agree, gorgeous interior, this has to be cheaper to repair the rust on this than on a similar age g-wagen. How straight forward is it to disconnect the front drive arrangements if these are not working properly?

There is a mechanical lever in the engine bay to run the car solely on rwd if there is a fault in the 4matic system.

I have a soft spot for them and had an E reg one when it was less than 5 years old and less than 50k miles. Unfortunately the transmission was not reliable. ASR lit up randomly and without star diagnostics, it was very hit and miss. Didn't help that even the main dealer didn't have a clue and would replace parts that cured it - temporarily. Not good when the bills amounted to hundreds at a time. There must be specialist these days that know the system.

When it expired in a pool of oil and dealer declared it needed a new transfer case, I almost passed out at the estimated repair cost and traded it in for a Subaru. Dull as dishwater compared to the 124, but provided faithful service for the next 5 years. Now I know the transfer case probably just needed new seals (I didn't have Google in '92)

The ASR system is still very difficult to diagnose.. So much so that many choose to completely disable the system.

The 4-matics are very expensive to look after when they go wrong though..

Thanks for your input Jay.

I had thought about getting one as a running resto. project, but won't bother now. I'll stick to the standard TEs, but what attracted me to that car was the burgundy leather interior.

you would spend more having an existing car re-upholstered, great colour!
